The HRA meets once a month and each committee member reports back on their portfolio - Security, Electricity, New Developments, Water and Sanitation, HBI (Kate Warr’s gardens), Roads, Membership etc. The HRA have recently paid for a camera on one of the gantries including monthly monitoring plus we are also assisting Kate Warr with her beautifying of our Hilton gardens (Kate’s HBI relies on Hilton Businesses to contribute a monthly figure by completing a debit order form). Maintaining all the gardens, in our open spaces, in Hilton costs a lot of money each month. The HRA does not have the funds to support all the bills but we help when there are shortfalls. If you are interested in signing a debit order for the HBI please email me and I will send your details onto Kate Warr (HBI).
The HRA currently has ONLY 204 households which are paid up members.
We desperately need your support so that we can continue to support and uplift “your” Hilton.
To mend this situation, the HRA is embarking on a Stop Order drive to sustain the contribution we are making to the Hilton Business Initiative (HBI) and security in the area. Many businesses currently contribute, and we need to get more on board. The HRA hopes that we will be favourably received when we call on you.
FEEDBACK FROM TASK TEAMS
ROADS AND STORMWATER DRAINAGE
It is still the intention to establish a water and sanitation task team. Preliminary discussions have been held with the authorities regarding the involvement of the HRA
A local architect resident in Hilton has represented the HRA at the first ARC (Architectural Review Committee) meeting for The Avenues development. Further meetings will be held to deal with the commercial elements of the development.
The HRA has carried out a detailed review of the application for an amendment to the environmental authorisation for the Mountain View development on Dennis Shepstone Drive. The application provides for an increase from 140 units originally approved to a total of 360 units. The review showed that the application complies with the general planning principles for Hilton which allow for densification within the urban footprint. The review however showed serious deficiencies in the provisions for services – electricity, water, sanitation, traffic and long-term maintenance. These were commented on in detail in the report submitted to the environmental consultant and copied to the developer and all responsible local authorities.
The HRA Committee is comprised of invested residents with a heart for Hilton. If you would like to volunteer services to benefit the Hilton community, please get in touch.
