In this brief newsletter, the HRA appeal to the Hilton community to offer their expertise on our sub-committees in the strive to make Hilton better for all. The HRA is a volunteering association and the more people that volunteer their services the more we can do to improve our community. We have kicked off the year by increasing membership. Our new membership drive has enabled us to capture all details of members on our new data base and allows for easy invoicing at year end.

ELECTRICAL TASK TEAM FEEDBACK
The Electrical Task Team continues to work with the local Municipalities and NERSA in dealing with Hilton Electricity supply problems. The Team also receives support from the Pietermaritzburg Chamber of Commerce. A meeting was held on the 1st April at the Msunduzi Electricity Department with Rob Maitland-Stuart and John holiday representing the Technical Task Team of the Hilton Ratepayers Ass. It was noted that nobody in the Department hold the necessary Government Certificate of Competency which is a statutory requirement in municipality establishing the operating electrical infrastructure. This qualification resides with the Operations and Maintenance Manager, a position which is currently vacant and has been advertised. The Hilton 33kV Network Upgrade : Initial Stage 1/11kV at Crossways and the major upgrade to Pine Street were discussed and will be explained at our AGM (date to be announced). Other concerns were discussed such as additional Hilton load due to new developments, Load shedding and the impact it has on our aging infrastructure, Vegetation encroachment which is ongoing, Call In centre. Future Liaison/EUF meetings have been planned.
THE ROAD TASK TEAM
Thank you to all those that sent in their photos of potholes! The HRA obtained a significant detailed photographic record of poor road conditions from Hilton residents. This record is being used in the first stage of devising a roads maintenance programme that is affordable and achievable. This has prompted the HRA to establish a Roads Task Team comprising engineers with specialist expertise who reside in Hilton. The team is in the process of developing its terms of reference and is arranging meetings with municipal technical staff and contractors involved in repairs and maintenance. The exciting news is that the contractors began working, were halted with the long weekend and rain but have started again.
HBI – KATE WARR VERGES AND GARDENS
We are so excited to announce that this portfolio has now fallen under the umbrella of the HRA. We will support Kate as much as possible and have endeavoured to assist her with administration etc. The appreciates all the hard work that Kate and her team have done to keep Hilton beautiful.
